PC02 Compressor top temperature protection
What the control is telling you
The compressor top (shell) temperature switch has tripped from overheating.
Applies to: DLCURAH18-60 AAK/ABK single-zone heat pump outdoor units (18K-60K, regular and High Heat)
Likely causes
- Low refrigerant charge
- Restricted refrigerant flow
- Poor airflow over outdoor coil
- Faulty top-temperature switch or wiring
Test and repair steps
- Warning: Turn off and lock out power at the outdoor disconnect and wait for the inverter capacitors to discharge before touching the outdoor board or compressor wiring.
- Check outdoor coil cleanliness and fan operation.
- Check refrigerant charge and look for leaks.
- Check for refrigerant restrictions (kinked line set, clogged parts).
- Check the compressor top switch and wiring; replace if faulty.
