Quick answers about HVACopedia and the error code library.
What is HVACopedia?
HVACopedia is a field reference for HVAC and gas technicians. It lists error codes with likely causes and test steps, equipment settings, and calculators for gas pipe sizing and gas meter clocking, built for Canadian equipment.
Which brands and equipment does it cover?
The error code library covers 16 brands: AirQuest, Carrier, Daikin, FlowMax, Goodman, Heat & Glo, ICP, Lennox, Midea, Mitsubishi, Napoleon, Navien, Noritz, Rheem, Rinnai and Skytech, across furnaces, wall furnaces, air conditioners, air handlers, heat pumps, boilers, combi boilers, tankless water heaters and gas fireplaces.
Is HVACopedia free?
Yes. You can browse the error code library for free. You sign in to send field reports and to use the AI assistant.
Where do the error code explanations come from?
Licensed technicians write the content in their own words and check it against the manufacturer's documentation. Each code page names its source so you can check the original manual for your exact model.
Can I use it instead of the manufacturer's manual?
No. HVACopedia is a starting point. The manufacturer's manual for the exact model and local codes always take priority, and gas, electrical and refrigerant work must be done by a qualified, licensed person.
Does it work offline?
Yes. The app lets you download the library to your phone so you can keep using it in crawl spaces, mechanical rooms and new builds with no signal.
What if a code or fix is missing?
Send a field report from the app with a photo. Reports from technicians are how the library gets corrected and extended.
