EC07 Outdoor DC fan motor fault / speed out of control

High severity Midea DLCURA ducted single-zone inverter heat pump (outdoor)

What the control is telling you

The outdoor fan motor is not running or its speed cannot be controlled.

Applies to: DLCURAH18-60 AAK/ABK single-zone heat pump outdoor units (18K-60K, regular and High Heat)

Likely causes

  • Fan blade blocked by ice, debris or obstruction
  • Fan motor connector loose
  • Failed DC fan motor
  • Outdoor board fan driver fault

Test and repair steps

  1. Warning: Turn off and lock out power at the outdoor disconnect and wait for the inverter capacitors to discharge before touching the outdoor board or compressor wiring.
  2. Check that the fan turns freely and is not blocked by ice, snow or debris; clear the coil and fan area.
  3. Reseat the fan motor plug on the outdoor board.
  4. Inspect the fan motor wiring for damage.
  5. Restart and watch the fan; replace the fan motor if it will not run with a good connection, otherwise suspect the outdoor board.
