EbL Low circulator current - hard lockout

High severity Daikin DR96TN/DD96TN

What the control is telling you

After the heat-on delay the main blower motor draws much less current than expected. The furnace stops and goes to hard lockout.

Applies to: Daikin DR96TN (upflow/horizontal) and DD96TN (downflow/horizontal) two-stage 96% furnaces with 9-speed ECM motor, R-32 ready

Likely causes

  • Loose blower motor wiring
  • Burnt or failed blower motor

Test and repair steps

  1. Power off and check all blower motor connections (line plug and speed tap harness) at the motor and control.
  2. Check that the motor gets 115 VAC and a speed tap signal during a call.
  3. If wiring and supply are good and the motor does not run or draws little current, replace the blower motor.
  4. Reset by cycling power and run a full heat cycle.
