PC30 System high pressure protection

High severity Midea DLCURA ducted single-zone inverter heat pump (outdoor)

What the control is telling you

System high pressure exceeded the limit and the compressor stopped.

Applies to: DLCURAH18-60 AAK/ABK single-zone heat pump outdoor units (18K-60K, regular and High Heat)

Likely causes

  • Dirty outdoor coil or fan failure (cooling)
  • Poor indoor airflow (heating) - dirty filter, closed registers
  • Overcharge or non-condensables
  • Refrigerant restriction
  • High-pressure sensor fault

Test and repair steps

  1. Warning: Turn off and lock out power at the outdoor disconnect and wait for the inverter capacitors to discharge before touching the outdoor board or compressor wiring.
  2. In cooling clean the outdoor coil and check the outdoor fan.
  3. In heating check indoor filter, blower and ductwork airflow.
  4. Check refrigerant charge and for non-condensables.
  5. Check for restrictions; confirm service valves are fully open.
  6. Check the high-pressure sensor (see EC5C).
