EC72 Outdoor DC fan motor lack-phase

High severity Midea DLCURA ducted single-zone inverter heat pump (outdoor)

What the control is telling you

The board detects a missing phase on the DC fan motor output.

Applies to: DLCURAH18-60 AAK/ABK single-zone heat pump outdoor units (18K-60K, regular and High Heat)

Likely causes

  • Loose or broken fan motor lead
  • Fan motor winding open
  • Board driver fault

Test and repair steps

  1. Warning: Turn off and lock out power at the outdoor disconnect and wait for the inverter capacitors to discharge before touching the outdoor board or compressor wiring.
  2. Reseat the fan motor plug on the outdoor board.
  3. Inspect the fan motor leads for a broken conductor.
  4. Check the motor windings for an open phase.
  5. Replace the fan motor or outdoor board as indicated.
