High severity KeepRite C4A3/CXA6 ACKeepRite *SA/*SH Single-Stage CommunicatingKeepRite *CA/*CH Two-Stage Communicating

What the control is telling you

Compressor voltage was seen after start then disappeared for 10 s with a call still on. The fan keeps running and a restart is tried every 15 minutes.

Applies to: KeepRite C4A3/CXA6 AC with outdoor control board; *SA5/*SA6 AC and *SH4/*SH5/*SH6 HP single-stage communicating; *CA7/*CA9 AC and *CH6/*CH9 HP two-stage communicating

Likely causes

  • Compressor internal overload tripped
  • Loss of 230 V to the compressor while 24 V stays
  • Two-stage: start relay/capacitor left in circuit too long

Test and repair steps

  1. Check line voltage and the contactor contacts.
  2. Let the compressor cool and check windings.
  3. Check run capacitor and any start kit.
  4. The code clears after a good restart or when 24 V is cycled.
